Lima will be the host city for the Copa Libertadores Final
The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) announced that on Saturday, November 23rdour capital will host the Copa Libertadores final, the most significant football event in the region. The Estadio Monumental, with a capacity just over 80,000, has been confirmed to host the River Plate vs. Flamengo teams, as well as all the fans who will arrive in Lima for this vibrant sporting event.
CONMEBOL President Alejandro Domínguez said Lima was chosen as the venue for this cup duel, due to its air connectivity, making it an ideal city for both River Plate and Flamengo fans. "There were many offers from the Continent and also outside it. We believe that Lima can fulfill the requirements of those people who have bought tickets to attend Santiago, as it is a halfway point between both cities. In another scenario, I know that Lima is going to be presented to host any cup and it could be a viable alternative," he said.
